Primary

Primary

Every year, at New Baldwin World Academy, we welcome many young, bright, curious, unique and lively children on board. It is amazing to watch these young ones unfold their wings and identify their superpowers. They grow their individual skills, preferences and abilities as well as the ability to work collaboratively. Our school's aim is to provide them a powerful foundation and a positive environment during these crucial years. The Primary School Programme at New Baldwin is made up of Grades 2 to 5. The International School follows an integrated curriculum of the Cambridge Primary Programme. Although our curriculum is largely based on the Cambridge International Primary Programme which is inherently flexible, the Primary School follows a carefully structured curriculum that has been customized by us to include components of the National Curriculum for England and the Primary Years Programme, and thus meet the needs of children living in competitive environments today. The class curriculum is structured to inculcate self-confidence, discipline to set goals and reach them, and self-reliance. Multiple learning styles are implemented to help students retain information and strengthen understanding.

Differentiated Teaching

At New Baldwin, we recognize that a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education might be detrimental to the learning process and student's self-efficacy. Our teachers take a practical and realistic approach to differentiation. ‘Differentiation’ is the process by which differences between pupils are accommodated so that all students have the best possible chance of learning. Effective use of differentiation by task and support in a mixed-ability class enables the teachers to accommodate the different learning styles in the classroom.

Assessments

New Baldwin Primary follows a continuous evaluation system. Parents can gauge their child’s academic progress based on regular reports. A comprehensive system of reviews, reports and parent-teacher meetings provide parents with as much information s possible. Students undertake National Curriculum Tests (SATs) in English and mathematics in Grade 5, during the month of May. The student’s reading and writing levels are gauged through these tests as a component of the overall English grade. Teacher assessments are also conducted for these subjects. Optional Tests are also conducted for the assessment of English and Mathematics in Grades 2, 3 and 4 in the Primary School as per the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Field Trips

Field trips are organized to take learning beyond the school environment. Trips are conducted in regular intervals for the students to gardens, museums or study sites in and around Bangalore to make learning a fulfilling experience.
